CON-GRAD-UATION! (:

FINALLY GRADUATED!

Sorry for this super delayed post, but I have been so busy lately. My convocation was held on 1st August 2015 on a sunny Saturday morning.

Made it just in time for convocation before registration officially closed because I had woken up late that very morning. Wore improper attire of denim shorts with a white collared sleeveless shirt underneath, because yours truly did not give two hoots. After all, the graduation gown covers everything, right?

W R O N G.

I was trying to catch some sleep in the auditorium before the Psychology batch was cued to prepare to go upstage when my dear friend, Boulder, dared me to go onstage and do some somersaults. There was no initial plan to do anything dramatic, I swear. I really did just wanted to go upstage, take my cert, smile at the camera, hope my face dont look fat in photos, walked down the stage and not trip over my heels. But the dare came, and convocation was getting a bit too boring. So...

Thanks Boulder for the dare. Wouldnt have done it without you. (:

Said video is down below. Please watch for your own amusement.
(Sorry if it is a bit too small for your liking. But you can search for the video through my Instagram account, if you are interested in watching a slightly clearer version, that is.)

The reason why I did it is still somewhat unclear to me as till today. Was I so exhausted that morning that I could not think properly? Was my pride reduced to only said reward of llaollao if I completed the dare? Apparently, yes. Hahahaa... The only thing I was afraid of as I waited for my turn to go on stage to receive my certificate was them stopping me for improper attire. I had to take off my heels before I flip, you see. So, as I waited for my name to be announced, my heart was hammering. Not afraid that I wouldnt stick that landing, (Because, b*tch please, that's really not a very difficult somersault *smirks*), but because I was afraid I would get caught before I even started. Now THAT would be embarrassing. Why is that girl barefooted?! Imagine me being caught and having to put back my heels and banned from stage without having done anything at all. OH THE SHAME.

Anyway, I did it and had no regrets. My parents were utterly amused-I think my dad even slept through it. But they were both handling it pretty well. I was not disowned, thankfully haha. My mom commented that she knew I was going to do something crazy when she saw me barefooted. My dad did not believe her. Motherly instincts! They are never wrong!

Did not have much photos (or rather, friends. *sad face* Hahaa, just kidding. But these photos are the only ones I managed to take during that day! )

My dear mom and I <3 Thanks mummy for being one of my major pillar supports during these 4 years!

If you look carefully, you can see proof in the form of major eyebags as a valid indication of how exhausted I was on that day hahaa

A friend commented that my dad looks like a school principal. Hahaha...

Everyone has nice photos, looking all prim and proper in their gowns. But here I am, with an awesome video to look and laugh at for my silliness and recklessness (I could have accidentally flipped into that guy giving out our certs, now that I thought about it) and I shall remember it for many years to come. I hope in future, my grandkids will see this and think I'm cool hahaha...

People have a tendency to say adulthood only officially starts after one graduates from University, for which I agree. But I also believe that we are still relatively young, and possibilities are endless for us to explore, be it careers, relationships and even, new perspectives. We shouldnt be too in a hurry to grow up and get all serious. There should be moments whereby we can still be fun and a little insane. And as what the guy giving out my cert told me as I rushed to adjust my graduation gown, collect my black heels and funny square hat after my exhilarating performance, "Take your time".

And for the record, I did. And even did a little wave before I walked down the stage.

Adulthood, so it begins. Happy Graduation, everyone. (:
